There are people in this world who can share memories, emotions, and skills with a specific person regardless of the distance between them. They are known as sensates.
Shimazu Kaoru is a sensate.
Because of her guardian, she moves from the town of Morisaki, where she had lived for many years, to Tokyo. She enrolls at Itachiyama and begins high school, where she meets a boy.
He is the new ace of the school's volleyball team, a boy with a strong aversion to dirt who knows exactly what he wants. His distinctive personality constantly draws Shimazu Kaoru's attention.
Unable to stop being drawn to Sakusa, Shimazu Kaoru gradually falls for him and starts thinking about confessing.
As someone who has never dated, she decides to ask her fellow never-dated sensates for advice.
Sensate No. 1, who lives in Tokyo and keeps trying to recruit her to attend Hyotei, feels her heart flutter and eagerly offers advice: “Roses, jewelry, a romantic confession. I can have some Damascus roses flown in to decorate the place where you confess.”
Shimazu Kaoru: That's a bit over the top, isn't it? But I don't know if Sakusa is allergic to pollen. Thanks so much, but I'll pass.
Sensate No. 2, who lives in California, gets some flirting tips from their gay father: “Just sit in front of him, gaze into his eyes and give him a sweet smile. Then ask him about his interests and send him a signal with your eyes. He'll get it.”
Shimazu Kaoru: I tried that. He asked if something was wrong with my eyes and even took time off to escort me to the nurse's office.
Just as the other sensates are eager to help her become the first in their group to find a partner, Sakusa approaches Shimazu Kaoru and confesses to her first:
“I like you. At first, I noticed you because you were always talking to yourself, but before I knew it, I couldn't take my eyes off you. Motoya says I must be in love. I don't want to let this relationship pass me by, so I hope you'll give me an answer.”
As you'd expect of an ace spiker, Sakusa hits Shimazu Kaoru with a direct attack. Despite all the twists and turns, she ends up with the perfect boyfriend.
#For various reasons, it became difficult to write the original setup, so I decided to switch to something a bit more unusual. The idea of sensates comes from one of my favorite TV shows, Sense8. There are some original details, but you won't have trouble following the story even if you haven't seen Sense8.
#This crosses over with some of my favorite TV shows, but the story is mainly set in the world of Japanese manga and anime. Characters from Modern Family will appear.
Theme: Be a decent person and love honestly.
