Chu Jianqing was an orphan whom the Demon Venerable had taken in. To repay his kindness, she worked diligently and became the cultivation world's model employee, earning a promotion to elder in less than ten years.
But the older the Demon Venerable got, the more erratic he became, and the more he disliked her. After the sect expelled Chu Jianqing for entering through the door left foot first, she changed her appearance, abandoned the darkness for the light, and joined the Heavenly Dao Sect.
With her outstanding professional skills, she rose through the ranks and became an elder in charge of law enforcement.
To avoid losing her job again, she adopted eight secret identities and found an elder's position in each of the Eight Great Alliances under Heaven.
Then she realized she had barged straight into a den of former colleagues.
Chu Jianqing: "..."
Yes. It was on that very day that she suddenly discovered
that everyone from her former employer, from the guardian elders to the nameless nobodies, were orthodox cultivator spies in hiding who didn't know one another.
It seemed her death had changed them all.
...What kind of role-play are you people doing? Is this normal?
.
The current Demon Venerable is powerful, with countless subordinates.
To destroy the demonic sect, the various sects secretly dispatched their top disciples to infiltrate it and pass on information.
They soon became pillars of the demonic sect, elite disciples, and law-enforcement elders.
At first, the reports they sent back were all perfectly normal. They even included detailed descriptions of a direct disciple of the Demon Venerable named Chu Jianqing.
They warned their sects to be on guard against her, ambush her if necessary, and bring her back to keep under supervision;
they also branded her a lackey of the demonic sect and an enemy of the righteous path.
However, just as the Eight Great Alliances were preparing to move against her, they received messages from the top disciples they had sent to infiltrate the demonic sect.
Several messages, worded differently, all carried the same subtle, shadowy hatred.
[The Demon Venerable killed her.]
[I should have realized it sooner.]
[I hate her.]
[, But she's dead.]
.
.
At first, they thought they hated Chu Jianqing.
They hated that she was a heaven-blessed prodigy with a bright future, yet willingly became the Demon Venerable's lackey and obeyed the demon who had taken her in.
Later, they understood that they did not actually hate Chu Jianqing for belonging to the demonic sect.
They simply hated that there had never been anyone else in her eyes.
# They hate that the moon hangs high in the sky but never shines on them
# And if it won't shine on me, fine, but why shine on an idiot?
P.S.
1. This is a story born from a wild idea. I wrote the blurb a while ago and am putting it out to see if people like it.
2. The romance will probably take up a large share of the story. It will be a literary sea of love and hate from the men's perspectives, and male characters of all kinds may appear. The heroine will be the sort of universally adored character who leaves a thousand arrows piercing her heart.
3. If I write it, it may be a practice project. I've never written this type of story before, so I'll add content warnings if any troublesome elements come up.
4. Originally, this was meant to be a traditional cultivation novel on my to-write list, but I don't think my current writing skills are up to it. I'll practice more first (and save up enough money to eat). Once I'm ready, I'll definitely start a novel about a moonlight-in-the-heart heroine.
Theme: Lay down your weapons and become a Buddha.
