[Football] A Terrible Start

In the summer of 2022, while Moritz was still discussing with old friends where they should vacation the following summer, it never crossed his mind that he would leave the Amsterdam where he'd grown up the very next season. Manchester United started with two straight losses, then followed up with two straight wins. To support new manager Ten Hag's rebuild, they went on a shopping spree at Ajax. Besides paying a premium of 100 million for Antony, they also offered 38 million for Moritz, the versatile Dutch forward. He hadn't wanted to leave his hometown, but how could he refuse his godfather's request? One phone call from Ten Hag was all it took for Moritz to bid a resolute farewell to his family and friends and head off to the Premier League to fight alongside his godfather. Unfortunately, life in the Premier League, the dark graveyard of glass players, alongside his godfather wasn't easy. In two years, not only was he transformed from a forward into a defender, but his market value also skyrocketed by -30 million. Thanks to the efforts of their clubs and the neighbors next door, Manchester was once the only city with two treble-winning teams. Now, it was the only city with two Santas. This season had barely been underway for two months, and Manchester's sky was already black and blue. What a terrible start. 1. As the blurb says, Moritz plays for Manchester United and represents the Netherlands. The story starts in fall 2024. The schedule and results will probably follow real life (unless Martinez picks a fight with an elephant). It's pure fun and nonsense. 2. I wrote this because watching Rati get so upset every day is hilarious. I'll update whenever she gets upset. 3. Moritz is young, but he's had an unusually eventful love life. My writing style is pretty abstract, so please read at your own discretion. 4. The pairing, if I manage to write that far, was originally going to be one of a few people my friends and I picked, whoever ended up with the highest market value. But when I was writing character bios, Reus seemed like a perfect fit, so the pairing is Reus. It'll probably be a retro age-gap long-distance romance. Hope you like it (heart). Theme: Even when trapped in a difficult situation, keep striving upward.
