This story is adapted from the biographies of Ban Chao, Emperor Ming, and Yao Song in the Book of the Later Han, as well as the stories of Geng Gong and Guan Chong.
The young Ban family member traveled from their hometown in Fufeng County to Luoyang to clear his elder brother's name, and went before Emperor Ming of Han, Liu Zhuang.
His Majesty was wise and handsome, dignified yet gentle. Ban Chao's elder brother was finally free of his suffering, and the family followed Ban Gu, the eldest brother, to the capital to take up official posts and settle down.
Yet after that one meeting, he could no longer see the emperor's face.
Ban Gu earned merit by compiling the Book of Han and entered the palace to work on historical records, while Ban Chao copied books for the government day after day, supplementing the family income and supporting his elderly mother.
By a twist of fate, he saw Liu Zhuang again.
His Majesty remembered him.
The young man was deeply devoted to His Majesty. He was willing to serve at his side, even if it meant being no more than a lowly Clerk of the Orchid Terrace.
For the Han dynasty, and for His Majesty, Ban Chao joined General of Chariots and Cavalry Dou Gu on a northern campaign to open a route through the Western Regions.
He went to repay a debt of gratitude, and because his heart remained with the emperor. Ban Chao of the Orchid Terrace crossed the frontier with hope, longing to earn military honors one day, ease His Majesty's worries, and bring him joy.
But he did not know, could not yet know, that once he left Luoyang, he would have no home to return to, only a country to gaze toward in the east. The Yumen Pass he had strode through so boldly would become impossibly distant.
His Majesty was in the east, where the sun rose and the moon set. The young man never forgot.
P.S. Some normal adaptations have been made to the Book of the Later Han. Please do not compare every word against the official history.
Theme: "I dare not hope to reach Jiuquan Commandery; I only wish to return alive through Yumen Pass."
The name of this article sounds great! But can the introduction be changed? 😳 The author didn't write the synopsis of the story.
Come on, madam, what a great writing! However, to be honest, my wife can try to write articles. The history and humanities resources there are better. There is a book about Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty, which is relatively good-looking. You can give it a try. My wife's book is also good-looking, but it is a little lacking. The characters are too complex and need to be simplified. At first glance, it will be too complicated and difficult to read. But if you have a certain historical background, you will like it. Come on, author, the aroma of wine is not afraid of the alley! [Like]🐰
