Yanagawa Yuri, Seigaku's chemistry genius, has recently encountered something strange.

She thought she'd simply rescued an affectionate, adorable kitten.

She didn't expect pets to take after their owners. The bigger one isn't just catlike in personality, he's even clingier than the kitten!

But that can't be right. Rumor has it that Echizen is a bking!

A clingy bking...?

Could the rumors be wrong...?

Confused, Yuri starts reviewing the evidence:

Cold? He treasures Karupin so much and is always helping her out. He must be cold on the outside but warm on the inside!

Rude? Not really. He always calls her senpai. She just doesn't know when he started calling her by her name.

Tsundere? Hmm, that one fits.

After a lot of thought, Yuri concludes that Echizen is way too out of character (crossed out).

She concludes that rumors can't be trusted, and that Echizen clings to her because he's so grateful to her.

Her friend has a sweatdrop of exasperation on their forehead. "Idiot, even a fool can see that kid Echizen is acting this way because he likes you!"

"There's a rumor like that, too?" Having had terrible luck with boys since childhood, Yuri becomes even more convinced of her own conclusion. "The rumors really are wrong! And who are you calling an idiot, huh?!"

Her friend, feeling guilty and helpless: ...

And then! Before long, Echizen proves through his actions that this isn't a rumor after all!!!

Yuri, whose ideal type is an older guy and who has zero dating experience: Huh? Yumi-chan said younger guys are a lot of trouble. I'd better stick to dating chemistry.

Later, when a suitor makes snide remarks and repeatedly hints that her little brother isn't reliable,

Yuri, already blinded by his good looks and used to having her boyfriend cling to her, gives him a spectacular face-slapping and lets him have it.

The guy who successfully won her over: Her suitors don't hold a candle to me, senpai!

Reader's Guide:

1. The heroine and Fuji are childhood friends. There are rumors about them early on, but they're based on a misunderstanding.

2. In this version, Echizen only returns to Japan in high school, and the timeline is all over the place. The focus is on romance, with very little match play.

3. A slow-burn, everyday-life sweet treat, with a little melodrama now and then. Some OOC characterization.

Matsuo Sakuya, adopted daughter of one of Japan's four major conglomerates, has been having a hard time lately. Her ex-boyfriend, the one she dumped, seems to have undergone a subtle change in personality. He's become sharp-tongued, rude, vulnerable, and clingy!
