[Blurb]
After leaving Ren Xiuyuan, Su Tang began going on blind dates and looking for a job, following the usual routine.
But lately, she felt like everything was going wrong, as if she were having a run of bad luck.
A suitable blind date stood her up for no reason; the job she'd finally landed after passing the interview suddenly fell through; even the landlord of the apartment she'd paid a year's rent for announced it was being sold and demanded that she move out that very night...
The man waited by the roadside, watching her drag her luggage around in a miserable state, homeless and helpless.
He got out of the car and walked steadily over to her, smiling with a touch of madness.
"Looks like you'll have to come back to my bed."
Seven months earlier, Su Tang had been at the end of her rope when someone sent her to meet Ren Xiuyuan.
She'd heard that he was shrewd, cold, and ruthless, with unbridled ambition beneath his polished exterior.
But no one knew that Ren Xiuyuan, who ruled the business world and held everything in his grasp, was ill.
At their first meeting, Su Tang saw his beautiful secretary wiping away tears while skillfully directing workers as they replaced the many items wrecked in the CEO's office.
She was frightened, and even had the unsettling feeling that a pair of eyes was watching her from the shadows.
A gloomy gaze pierced through the glass wall of the CEO's office. Thin lips moved, and she read the words:
"Get out."
Su Tang froze in fear, but she had no way to escape. Even knowing she was walking into a wolf's den, she could only greet him with a smile.
She believed there was always time.

Ren Xiuyuan lay quietly on the bed, listening to the rain, tenderly holding the bitter medicine that could cure him in his arms.
His large hand rubbed the back of her neck as he stared at the red marks he'd left on her, his gaze feverish yet restrained.
A moment later, the root of his illness began to grow wildly again. He cruelly woke her and asked, "Are you like this with every man?"
Su Tang was drowsy, but not the least bit displeased. She knew it was time for him to seek his nightly cure.
She only mumbled, "If I said I'm only like this with you... would you believe me?"
Ren Xiuyuan gave a cold laugh. His movements showed no restraint, yet he willingly fell into her deception.
"Want me to believe you? Then show me."
The secretarial office was celebrating having made it through the most peaceful seven months in its history.
Next door, after a long time, the CEO's office was once again strewn with documents, broken vases, and damaged tables and chairs...
They were all Ren Xiuyuan's "masterpieces."
Only he knew that he had never recovered. He simply had good medicine by his side, so his illness rarely flared up.
But now things were different: his medicine was gone.
Ren Xiuyuan took file after file from the locked safe and frantically thrust them into her hands, his eyes bloodshot.
"Tangtang, everything you wanted is here. It's all yours."
"Can you stop talking about leaving?"
Su Tang only stood there. His humble, bent figure did not move her at all. She looked at him with cold eyes, a scab of blood from the previous night's intimacy still clinging to her red lips.
After returning to him the one word he'd said when they first met, she lifted her chin and walked away.
But she didn't get to hear Ren Xiuyuan's almost-mad, feverish murmur:
"Keep deceiving me, Tangtang."
