He Made My Heart Melt Again Today

[Webcomic Editor x Tech Company Founder]

At a friend's recommendation, Nie Chun downloaded a virtual boyfriend app. It offered all kinds of guys to choose from, and she could switch if she wasn't satisfied.

Her virtual boyfriend was thoughtful and affectionate, sweet one moment and teasing the next. He said so many flirtatious things that she blushed, and aside from occasionally taking a little too long to reply, he was practically perfect.

Just as she was getting hopelessly hooked, her family arranged a blind date for her. To her surprise, the other party was the boss of a client company, and an alumnus from her high school, though they had attended different classes.

On the day of the blind date, Nie Chun took one look at Bo Yao, whose features were sharply defined and whose bone structure was so perfect he looked like a work of art. She made an excuse to go to the restroom, then frantically messaged her virtual boyfriend.

[My blind date is totally my type]

[But he looks so cold. He was probably forced to come by his family, too]

[We have absolutely nothing in common. You're better, I can talk to you about anything]

[Why aren't you replying?]

[I just bought a membership and now you're bugged?]

At the table, Bo Yao stared at the dozen or so messages popping up on his phone and fell into thought.

Back in high school, Bo Yao and Nie Chun had exchanged anonymous letters for half a year. Then his family was struck by sudden misfortune, and he went abroad. The confession letter he had written never got sent.

After returning home, he founded his own tech company and developed a virtual boyfriend app. Then he spotted Nie Chun's name among the members. So he disguised himself as an AI and became her custom-made sweetheart, her electronic puppy, and her human melatonin.

On the day of their blind date, he watched a dozen new messages pop up on his phone and fell silent.

It turned out that being jealous of yourself tasted even more sour.
