After the stray cat he adopted died, Yan Guansui joined a civilian wildlife rescue organization.

He had been a firm atheist until he came across a tiger cub in the wild whose eyes looked exactly like his little cat's.

Yan Guansui thought it was just a coincidence, but one day he got a call from the zoo.

"Mr. Yan, could you come to the zoo as soon as possible? Tuantuan keeps insisting on seeing you."

Yan Guansui rushed to the zoo. The tiger cub came bounding over to him, roaring.

"Human, you finally came! Kitty missed you so much!"

"They threw away the sweater you gave kitty. I'm so mad!"

"Don't be mad, don't be mad." Yan Guansui instinctively held the tiger cub and soothed him. Only afterward did it dawn on him: Had he just understood what a tiger said?

What shocked Yan Guansui even more was that on the night before the zoo was set to release Yan Tuantuan into the wild, a cat-eared boy suddenly appeared in front of him.

Yan Tuantuan held out his hands, eyes brimming with tears. "Human, don't you want kitty anymore?"

On a chaotic and lawless colony planet, being pretty isn't a bad thing.

Being too pretty, though, can be a death sentence.

To avoid becoming merchandise on the black market, Hu Xiaoqi has always been careful to hide his true appearance.

Until one day, he suddenly saw a fluffy, chubby red fox in a battered mirror.

Antars made no effort to hide his affection for it, sharing his meals and bed with the fox.

The medal representing the Empire's highest honor became an ornament around the red fox's neck. Even when the fox covered top-secret military documents in paw prints, Antars would only scold the little troublemaker with a smile, then gently hold it and wipe its paws clean.

Hu Xiaoqi was perfectly content with life as Antars's pet.

The problem was that he wasn't actually a fox. Given Antars's guarded nature, if he found out the truth, the fox spirit would probably turn into a fox-fur scarf on the spot.

Having food brought to him and clothes put on for him was wonderful, but keeping his life was more important.

Hu Xiaoqi checked the things Antars had given him in his spatial button and decided it was time to run.

Antars's fox was gone, and his mental power, which had at last settled down, began to rampage again.

At first, he thought it was a scheme concocted by political rivals or enemy spies.

But after looking into it again and again, every clue pointed to the same conclusion: the little fox had run away on its own.

Antars laughed in anger. Beneath his uniform, his long, powerful legs transformed into a thick black snake tail.

So he liked running away? Antars hoped his little fox would be clever this time and not let him find it too easily.

Because his mental power level was too low, Hu Xiaoqi couldn't freely control his transformations.

So Antars would often end up with a mouthful of fur whenever they kissed.

It clearly wasn't a sustainable arrangement, so Antars coaxed Hu Xiaoqi into linking their mental domains.

Hu Xiaoqi didn't know what that meant. When he heard it could raise his mental power level, he immediately agreed.

By the time he realized he'd been tricked, it was too late to back out. A snake's tail coiled around his calf, and a bewitching voice whispered in his ear: "Xiaoqi, to link our mental domains, you need to be in your original form."
