A Care Manual for the Sickly Beauty

Sensitive, fragile sickly beauty × gentle, steady university professor

Pei Sixue (top) × Fu Chen (bottom)

Pei Sixue's life is simple.

He runs a small flower shop that never does especially well or badly, keeps a gentle, lazy fat cat, and likes curling up in his cramped but comforting attic to brew a cup of hot milk tea with far too much sugar, livestream without showing his face, and draw little slice-of-life comic strips starring cats.

Apart from his poor health and frequent illnesses, Pei Sixue sees nothing wrong with living this way on his own.

But his family is always worried, convinced he cannot take good care of himself. So shortly after his twenty-fifth birthday, they arranged a blind date for him.

His date is named Fu Chen, and he has excellent credentials:

Twenty-eight, a university professor, mature and dependable, proper and restrained, handsome and refined, and three years older than Pei Sixue. The matchmaker says, "You two are absolutely perfect for each other!"

-

The date is set at a quiet private restaurant.

Fu Chen is just as the matchmaker described: handsome, graceful and impeccably mannered. Being with him never makes anyone uncomfortable. He is talkative and considerate of other people's feelings.

After the meal, Fu Chen walks Pei Sixue home. As they part, they exchange contact details and agree to meet again.

-

After that, they see each other more and more often. As they spend time together, little things in Pei Sixue's life quietly begin to change.

For instance, his meals and daily routine become more regular. For instance, the IV drips he used to need several times a month become something he only needs once every few months. For instance, a figure he can lean on appears in the cramped attic that used to belong to Pei Sixue alone.

And so on, and so on...

Before he knows it, Fu Chen has become a constant presence in Pei Sixue's life.

From the time they spend together after their blind date, to Fu Chen's proposal, their wedding, and their life together as newlyweds...

Just as the matchmaker said at the start, they are perfect for each other.

They are together for a long, long time.
