A Summer Encounter

(Reserved, science-minded man vs goofy, laid-back liberal arts woman, one-on-one romance, sweet story, workplace)

Lin Min never imagined that after more than a decade of hard study and just four years of working, she would be unable to find a job at the flower of her youth, at age twenty-six.

Heavens above! Earth below! How is this fair?

Just as she was about to run out of money for food, she came across a job posting while scrolling through videos: "Urgently hiring one HR specialist. Monthly salary: 5,000. Five insurances and a housing fund, weekends off, lunch provided!"

Hey, wasn't that exactly her field?

Her spirits lifted. She immediately sent in her resume and applied. She interviewed that day and started work the next.

She worked diligently for a whole year. Before the New Year, she checked her bank balance: 8,345.7 yuan. She completely broke down!

Why work at all? Go crazy! Give up! Who cares!

One day, while taking a break from work, she caught the finance manager who always held up her expense approvals making out in the stairwell with a new male intern from the business department. It was the juiciest scandal imaginable. In that moment, she discovered the joy of working, and her outlook changed.

After that, she took up a new hobby: observing her coworkers. She secretly uncovered all sorts of gossip, and while she was at it, a fellow gossip-lover somehow appeared by her side.

The two of them worked hard at the office, then hid under the covers after work to dish about the latest gossip. One talked nonstop while the other listened with a stony face, and life just kept getting better.

But could someone please tell her why her gossip buddy calls the boss "Dad"? Is that normal?
