Longing for Your Return

Synopsis:

(Childhood sweethearts, brought together by a twist of fate)

1. The parasol tree in the courtyard has long since grown into a leafy canopy, but A Yin still hasn't seen her young man return. After taking one last look at the world, she tells her nephews to bury her on Luowu Mountain outside the village. That way, when her A Zheng comes back, she'll be able to see him right away, and then she can rest easy.

2. A decision made in his youth kept Chu Zheng fighting wars far from home for thirty years. He survived countless brushes with death and endured every hardship before finally returning with white hair, only to find the courtyard's parasol tree grown into a leafy canopy, while his A Yin lay buried on Luowu Mountain, all so she could see him the moment he returned.

Time and again, he stood at the gates of the underworld without entering. What kept him alive amid heaps of corpses, again and again, was a sachet embroidered by a young woman, a letter from home every three months, and the longing of someone thousands of miles away.

At last, this time, he crossed the Bridge of Helplessness to find his A Yin.

Did she regret it? A Yin smiled warmly and shook her head. Her young man was a hero. What was there to regret?

And Chu Zheng? He had let down no one in the world, yet he had failed his A Yin alone. Perhaps he had regretted it countless times over the years!
