Blurb: Legend has it that Cui Wei is a cursed demonic sword that brings disaster to its master and the world. Everyone should destroy it.
Yet one reckless swordsmith refuses to believe the rumors, going against the grain and challenging the Sword Pavilion's way of judging swords.
That swordsmith is Xu Ling. She transmigrated here, is skilled at forging fine swords and wielding a blade, and often says strange things.
She is exceptionally gifted and has a bright future, yet the demonic sword's spirit beguiles her. She defies convention for its sake and ruins her own prospects.
Years later, sword forging in Songxi Commandery has made rapid progress. A group of children gather to watch Xu Ling explain her improved forging techniques and animatedly recount her first meeting, as a girl, with the spirit of that demonic sword.
One child raises a hand and asks, "What happened after that? Where did the sword spirit go, after being falsely accused for a thousand years?"
Xu Ling glances at Cui Wei, who is also learning to forge swords, and tries to laugh it off. "He became human and went off to live freely with the person he loves."
The truth is, at first she drew her sword and raised her hammer to challenge the Sword Pavilion only to right wrongs and clear the innocent of false accusations. Later, she also wanted to get her hands on the spirit of this demonic sword.
A sword-forging genius who seems refined but is actually a rule-breaker x a demonic sword spirit rumored to be notorious but in reality refined and unconcerned with worldly affairs
1. Lots of original worldbuilding, and the pacing is slow at first. The male lead officially appears in Chapter 17. This is a BG, one-on-one, true-love story!
2. The plot-to-romance ratio is 8:2! The relationship develops slowly, with the romance mostly in the middle and later parts. It starts with a battlefield friendship, then love at first sight and affection growing over time, but it's not very obvious. Take my word for it: if that's not your thing, think carefully before reading. Different strokes for different folks. Cui Wei is the male lead because the heroine thinks he's suitable and likes him. He's the male lead because he is the one she likes. Their souls resonate beyond romance: they share a career and agree on the things they find meaningful. They're kindred spirits, so please don't disparage the pairing. Some readers may wonder how they fell in love; the answer is all of the above, which gradually gave rise to romantic feelings.
For a detailed analysis of the male supporting characters' romantic storylines, see the author's Weibo.
3. The other male characters who like the heroine only have one-sided feelings. They're all good characters too, so don't worry about a love triangle.
