Foreseeing Death Made Me a Suspect

Bian Zhou had another dream. He dreamed that the owner of the baozi shop near his home was lying in a pool of blood, staring at him with eyes that would never close.

Behind him stood someone holding a knife.

A blurry figure, the pungent smell of blood, and the glint of a knife.

Bian Zhou woke with a start. With five yuan in his pocket, he set off to buy a few baozi and check on the shopkeeper. In his experience, the victim in his dreams was always still alive and well at this point. Whether they would still be alive later depended on whether they listened to his warning.

When he knocked three times on the door in the first light of dawn and heard no reply from the shopkeeper behind the half-raised metal shutter, he already had a bad feeling.

Worse still, when he turned to leave, he saw someone standing not far away, covered in blood and holding a knife.

The good news was that the person hadn't killed him.

The bad news was...

Bian Zhou woke up at the murder scene. A long knife had been placed in his hands, and the baozi shop owner lay opposite him, eyes staring blankly.

The only options left to him were...

1. Call the police.

2. Call the police.

3. Call the police anyway.

And how was he supposed to explain that he was just an ordinary guy with a little precognitive ability who had come to warn the shopkeeper, and was now an unfortunate victim of a frame-up?

Several recent murder cases have been solved in City A. The methods and locations were completely unrelated, but what surprised everyone was that every victim who survived said they'd been warned to watch out for danger.

Some received notes, some paper airplanes, and some even found messages spelled out with stones at their doors.

These strange circumstances drew the attention of the special investigation team.

Zhou Chongjing opened the door and looked at the man suspected of being involved in the latest crime scene.

"Bian Zhou?"

"You say you were attacked at the baozi shop after arriving to buy baozi a little after five this morning. Do you know what the autopsy report says?"

"The shopkeeper died at 7:23 a.m."

"He was still alive when you entered the shop."
