Encountering Demons

During the Zhou Hongwu era, a hundred demons ran rampant. The Great Zhou established the Demon-Suppression Bureau, raising demon slayers and training them to select the strongest weapon against demons, Lu Yutian, who led the Bureau in slaughtering demons across the land.

To preserve the bloodline of the strongest demon slayer, the emperor arranged a marriage between Lu Yutian and a daughter of the Su family.

The matter should never have involved Su Muchun. She was only a low-born daughter, and someone as noble as him was far beyond her reach.

But when her older sister heard the news, she was so terrified that she lost her wits. She spent every day in a deranged state and couldn't even leave the house. If they refused the marriage, everyone in the Su family would lose their heads. With no other choice, Su Muchun could only grit her teeth and take her sister's place.

Lu Yutian was the sharpest sword in the Demon-Suppression Bureau: without love or affection, parents, relatives, or friends.

Su Muchun had firsthand experience with Lu Yutian's coldness.

Su Muchun: Even if I stripped naked and stood in front of him, all he'd do is ask whether I was cold.

The people of the Demon-Suppression Bureau were astonished: He actually asked whether you were cold!

Su Muchun: ...Is that really the point?
