Tsukishima found a Bluetooth earbud outside the Second Gym. Music was still playing through it, and its owner couldn't have gone far.
He held it up to his ear and listened. Heavy metal rock blasted out, making his fingers tingle.
Under a tree, a girl in a white dress sat quietly reading. Five steps away, a boy in a studded jacket had a bass slung over his back, while student council members beside him chatted away as they set up the equipment. There was a live show that evening, and the school had apparently invited a famous band.
Tsukishima took a couple of steps toward the bassist, but someone tapped him on the shoulder.
The girl in the white dress smiled sweetly at him. "Thanks. Could you give me my earbud back?"
Kitagami Takako was nothing like her appearance suggested. She was exactly the kind of person Tsukishima hated most: rude, with no sense of boundaries, doing whatever she pleased, and brazenly invading every corner of his life.
Kitagami Takako: Tsukishima, what are you listening to? Let me hear.
Tsukishima: ...
When was she going to understand that wearing earbuds while someone was talking was a hint that he didn't want to chat? And what was the meaning of taking his earbud out and kissing him?
Later, everyone started accusing the tsundere, sharp-tongued guy with glasses of tricking an innocent girl, earnestly warning Kitagami Takako not to let his handsome face fool her.
At his wit's end, Tsukishima closed his eyes. Kitagami Takako wasn't as gentle and harmless as they thought.
But it was enough if only he knew that secret.
