Ye Xingheng has always kept a secret in his heart: he likes a man, and has silently loved him for a long time.

At first, the man lived in the apartment above his. Whenever they crossed paths, Ye Xingheng would sneak a few glances at him. The man had refined features and an elegant, aloof air. Ye Xingheng went from being curious about him to finding himself inexplicably drawn to him.

Later, after his parents passed away one after another, Ye Xingheng left that neighborhood. He got through countless lonely, dark days by clinging to the warmth the man had shown him that night.

He thought they would never meet again, but then a child led him to the man, and the two of them crossed paths once more.

The child sidled up to Ye Xingheng and whispered, “Brother Xingheng, could you be my uncle’s wife?”

Ye Xingheng was so stunned by the question that he could barely think.

The child began counting his uncle’s good points on his fingers. “My uncle is handsome, rich, and smart. He used to get perfect scores on every exam.”

Ye Xingheng found it amusing, but his heart was racing.

Xi Yue was refined and easygoing, always polite but distant with others. He had excelled at everything since childhood, but a disagreement with his family over one particular matter had put them at odds. His parents mistakenly thought that was why he never dated anyone, and were always fretting over his love life. Even his little nephew was trying to find him a wife.

Then one day, his little nephew brought a young man to him. The young man was sweet and handsome, and always cherished him dearly.

Xi Yue was drawn to him at first, but worried about the age difference. He tried to avoid him, yet gradually fell for him all the same.

He thought their feelings had simply grown over time, unaware that the other man had loved him quietly for years.

The other man came running toward him, carrying a light that claimed the gentlest corner of his heart. Xi Yue gave him all the tenderness he had to offer.

If Ye Xingheng were asked, “What is Xi Yue to you?”

He would answer, “The moon.”

Always high above and out of reach, all Ye Xingheng could do was gaze up at him from afar and keep his love hidden in his heart.

One day, he finally touched the moon. It seemed cool and distant, yet showered him with tenderness. Unable to believe he could ever hope for more, he found himself falling deeper and deeper.

He had gazed up at the moon for so long, and finally worked up the courage to pluck it from the sky.

Xie Yanzhi grew up surrounded by love and freedom. He could always get whatever he wanted, and his life motto was, “If you like something, do your best to get it.” He is athletic and trained in sanda. To his friends, he has a “tough” image, the kind of guy who could knock someone flat with one punch. But after returning to the country and joining his family’s entertainment company, he gets set up at a drinking party. He has just beaten someone up when he runs into Lu Shiyan.

He immediately hides behind the man, trembling pitifully, and says, “H-He was trying to force himself on me.”

The middle-aged man he had beaten, his face swollen like a pig’s, struggled to twitch the corner of his mouth.

An odd silence fell over the room.

Xie Yanzhi fell for Lu Shiyan at first sight, and that very night he shared the “happy news” that he was about to fall in love in the group chat.

Friend A: Rumor has it he’s naturally cold and has no idea how to date.

Lu Shiyan answered honestly, “I don’t know how to date.”

Lu Shiyan was born with everything anyone could envy, but was also born lacking emotions. He was like a robot programmed to follow a set of principles formed by his upbringing. To everyone else, he was a living person with no warmth, as cold as ice.

Lu Shiyan had always known that his emotions were different from other people’s, and had accepted that he would never fall in love or marry.

But after one night together, brought about by a twist of fate, he and Xie Yanzhi began a year-long relationship.

He didn’t understand love, and thought of it only as a responsibility.

His partner was bold and forthright. He taught Lu Shiyan how to date, and asked him for kisses, cuddles, and sweet words.

Lu Shiyan diligently studied how to be a good boyfriend and did as he was told.

He thought that after a year, they would return to their separate lives. But little by little, he began to understand love, and with it came the fear of losing it.

Lu Shiyan didn’t know what love was like for everyone else. But he thought that if love had a name, his would be Xie Yanzhi.

Before they started dating, Xie Yanzhi’s friends told him Lu Shiyan would never like anyone and urged him to give up.

Xie Yanzhi said confidently, “Am I not lovable? He’ll like me.”

After they got together, his older brother disapproved of their relationship and told him they shouldn’t keep dragging each other along.

Xie Yanzhi said possessively, “We’re meant to be together for the rest of our lives. He’s meant to be mine alone.”

Later, Lu Shiyan went to visit a film set. Xin Luo wanted to invite him to star in his next movie, but Xie Yanzhi was the first to refuse.

Xin Luo: Even if he acts in a movie, he won’t take work away from you. You’re different types.

Xie Yanzhi: Still no. Lots of fans will call him their husband. I’m the only one who gets to call him that.
