Your Majesty, Why Are You Pregnant?

The newly enthroned Emperor Xiao Wei has just ascended the throne, full of youthful ambition, and it is the perfect time to make a grand show of himself...

The perfect time for the Regent to make a grand show of himself, that is.

Everyone knows Regent Qi Fou is plotting a rebellion: the common people know, the court officials know, and Xiao Wei knows too.

He knows he cannot beat him, but he absolutely cannot let the empire his ancestors built be destroyed in his own hands. So Xiao Wei comes up with an extremely bold idea:

Qi Fou is so dashing and strikingly handsome. He is nearly twenty-four and still unmarried, so he must prefer men.

Then Xiao Wei will just have to grit his teeth and rise to the challenge, have a child with him, and crown that child Crown Prince.

If his son can become emperor, then surely the father won't rebel, right?

A little scene:

Having made up his mind, Xiao Wei unconsciously curls his lips into a smile in court. Suddenly, a chill brushes his cheek. Beside the jade steps stands Qi, The Outcast, the man who is second only to the emperor and above all others, staring at him ominously like a little dog.

Xiao Wei steadies himself and declares solemnly, "The Regent looks particularly well today. With such heaven-sent beauty, unmatched in all the world, you outshine every young man and woman in every pleasure house in the capital put together. Guards, reward him!"

Compliments and gifts: that is what showing goodwill is all about.

Xiao Wei is very pleased with himself.

Qi Fou: ...

The ministers: He actually compared the Regent to the men and women of a brothel. Has His Majesty gone mad?! Judging by the Regent's expression, he will probably launch his rebellion and commit treason tonight!

That night, the imperial bedchamber is filled with muffled cries.

Regent Qi Fou does indeed launch his rebellion and commit treason. Without a doubt.
