Shang Mingyue is a fan who has the unlucky gift of jinxing whoever he supports into a scandal, while anyone he hates becomes a sensation.
After dying suddenly, he wakes up as the villainous Boss opposing the protagonist in a horror novel. He commands countless underlings, but...
The System announces: [Defeat the players to earn life points, or you’ll die for sure.]
It also gives him a golden finger: [Whoever you support will grow weaker. Whoever you oppose will become much stronger.]
Shang Mingyue: ???
[White Tower Number Nine] is an infinite horror platform where countless power-hungry people and extraordinary talents gather. Guilds abound.
Guild leaders often offer their subordinates the best benefits and perks to win them over.
In PvP mode, the famous guild leader speaks gently, but reprimands his subordinate in a cold voice:
“You can’t even carry a cup of tea without spilling it. I bet you’re going to lose this match.”
His subordinate, an advanced player ranked second on the dungeon leaderboard, puts on a brave face:
“I’m sorry. I’m incompetent.”
A rival guild mocks them:
“How can someone like that be a guild leader? He’s bullying the second-ranked big shot!”
Everyone thinks a leader who likes to put people down will never win their loyalty, and that the guild is doomed. But the players watching outside the screen are practically losing their minds:
[Holy crap, that all-M guild is back?! We’re done for, we’re done for...]
[They’re all lunatics. The moment the leader starts yelling, those freaks get fired up. I bet nobody will make it out of this match alive.]
[And those petty little guys are insanely protective of their own. Only the leader is allowed to yell at them. Nobody else can...]
The rival guild is baffled, but Shang Mingyue only blinks and smiles gently.
“I’m just scolding my incompetent subordinates. I believe your guild will only grow stronger.”
As soon as the match begins, Shang Mingyue’s underlings, wreathed in black energy, grow immensely powerful. One takes on a hundred, and the rival guild is wiped out in an instant.
The other guilds: ???
Shang Mingyue diligently scolds his own people and praises the rival guild, convinced his subordinates have long held grudges against him. He’s constantly on edge.
When he’s accumulated enough life points to make a run for it, the righteous protagonist’s team makes a grand entrance.
Shang Mingyue [delighted]: What a perfect chance to fake my death.
The protagonists reach out to a member who’s been bullied for so long. “I’ve killed that tyrant of a boss who kept putting you down. You’re free now.”
They plan to eliminate evil and recruit some talent at the same time, but they never expect this:
■ The advanced player ranked second looks vicious: He’s the only one in this world who can teach me to be humble and not get carried away!
■ The demon posing as a player, a Black Goat game Boss: Every time he scolds me, it feels so good. I’ll make sure you all die without a place to be buried!
■ The proud, aloof genius draws a blood blade through tears: We just need someone who can teach us like a parent...
■ The Lovecraftian tentacled merman narrows his eyes: Are you the top-ranked players now?
The protagonists are stunned. “Wait, wasn’t he the one bullying you all!?”
The players in the livestream chat laugh at their misfortune: [We told you they were freaks, but you wouldn’t believe us!]
After their guild leader dies a gruesome death, the already invincible guild goes on a rampage, slaughtering players and clearing dungeons. They offer their lives as a sacrifice and forcibly summon Shang Mingyue, who’s been enjoying his life.
The members look fanatical. “Guild leader, please scold us again!”
Shang Mingyue, who thought his members hated him to the core, is dumbfounded. Wait, what?
Why am I back again?
And why am I ranked number one now????
