I Am the Great Mage's Doomed White Moonlight

"Your Majesty, why are you leading the rebellion?"

The Great Purge had been going on for twenty years. As the witch hunt in Camelot raged on and the gallows in the square were piled high with the bones of the dead, Uther’s son, Arthur Pendragon, began having a long prophetic dream.

"You are the king who exists in the past and is reborn in the future. You are the King of the Calendar, the Eternal King."

"You are one side of a coin, destined to bring magic back to the world."

Arthur, who had been forced to burn a wizard alive just yesterday: ...

Possessing magic was a crime, so he rebelled against his country.

How could anyone rebel against their country by accident?

Arthur trod carefully, walking on eggshells, until one day, while hunting by the Lake of Avalon, he lost control of his emotions and loudly demanded answers from the goddess’s ruins. Suddenly, he locked eyes with a bedraggled, soaking-wet man in the lake.

The man was young and handsome, with an earnest face, red-rimmed eyes, and ragged breaths.

He stared at Arthur as if he had found a lost treasure, as if a fallen kingdom had risen once more.

When the man scrambled toward him in a panic, Arthur fell silent for two seconds, then drew his sword and held it to the man’s throat.

"?" The man looked up at him, silently asking what was wrong.

"When did you start eavesdropping?" Arthur demanded sharply.

The man’s face was full of confusion, his silent gaze pleading for an explanation. Arthur said coldly, "About the truth that I’m actually a mage."

The man blinked, as if he had suddenly realized something, and wore an indescribable expression.

Merlin, the Great Mage Who Ruled the Heavens and Earth, Incarnation of Magic, Last Dragon King, Druidic Seer, Immortal, Emrys slowly typed a question mark: ?

My dear king, what exactly do you think a mage is?
