Yan Mingshu came from a family of chefs. The cooking skills had been passed down for five or six generations, but with his father's indulgence, he'd never set foot in the kitchen. His fingers had never touched spring water: he'd spent his whole life in music rooms and art galleries instead.
Then his father fell ill and could no longer lift a wok. His uncle inherited the family's restaurant business, and Yan Mingshu was kicked out of the house with all his belongings.
With not a cent to his name, he was living under a bridge and freezing in the wind when someone appeared before him, looking down from above. "Come cook for me."
Yan Mingshu was honest. "I can't cook at all. Don't make things hard for me."
The other man replied indifferently, "Making things hard for you is exactly why I'm here."
Seriously, was this guy sick in the head?
He had money. Couldn't he do something better with it than make life difficult for him?
Yan Mingshu stared at him in disbelief. "Why?"
The other man gazed at him for a long time before finally answering, "I hate you."

Yan Mingshu was so desperate for money that he had no choice but to swallow his pride and go home with the man who was willing to pay an exorbitant salary to make things hard for him.
His enemy wanted to wear him out, so despite having a live-in housekeeper, he paid him 650,000 yuan a month to cook.
His enemy wanted to trample his dignity and make him feel ashamed, so he swallowed every dish Yan Mingshu made, whether undercooked or burnt black, all of them bizarrely flavored.
His enemy wanted to wear down his resolve and leave him confused and wavering, so he personally bandaged Yan Mingshu's injured fingers, found the best doctor for his father, and stood up for him in front of his uncle...
His enemy--
What enemy? Who else could find such a devoted diner, no matter how good the food was?
Yan Mingshu ate the food the housekeeper had made for him and watched Pu Cang eat the terrible dishes he'd cooked. He was certain. "You're in love with me."
Pu Cang sneered. "I hate you."
*
Pu Cang had always thought he hated Yan Mingshu.
He hated that Yan Mingshu had seen through his desperate situation. He hated that, with their four-year age gap, Yan Mingshu treated him like an immature child. He hated that Yan Mingshu had easily found his rich father, playing the role of his savior.
Most of all, he hated that after doing all that, Yan Mingshu had left him in a luxurious but filthy hell, vanished without a trace, and forgotten him when they met again.
He insisted, "I hate you."
Having heard the answer, Yan Mingshu turned and walked away without another word.
Pu Cang's eyes followed him, but he felt no joy at all in getting his revenge.
The next second, Yan Mingshu came out of the kitchen holding a frying pan and swung it--clang!
Looking at Pu Cang's pained expression, he said with displeasure, "I don't like hearing that, and I don't believe you. Say it again."
Pu Cang: "I..."
Yan Mingshu hit him again and instructed him, "Say you love me."
Pu Cang: "..."
His stubbornness was ruthlessly crushed. Like a toddler learning to speak, he struggled to face the feelings he'd almost forgotten were true.
"I love you."
A terrible cook with sky-high self-esteem, a spoiled and picky bottom vs. a top who won't listen until he gets slapped, then loves it
My next novel will probably be I Don't Want to Be Reborn as an Illegitimate Son. Here's the blurb. If you like it, please add it to your favorites. Mwah mwah mwah!
Ye Bozhou entered the Xue family at six as an illegitimate child. His father saw him as a stain on his marriage, while his father's wife couldn't be bothered to hurt a child and turned a blind eye to him. The only person who occasionally paid him any attention was his legitimate older brother, Xue Shu, six years his senior.
Xue Shu gave him birthday cakes, played with him, and tended to his wounds. He even stood up for him when Ye Bozhou was bullied for being an illegitimate child.
As a boy, Ye Bozhou grew up wild and carefree. When Xue Shu died at thirty, his will named Ye Bozhou as the heir to the family business.
He coasted all the way to the top. Whenever people spoke of him, they marveled at how lucky he was.
He followed Xue Shu's last wishes, lived well, cared for the elders, and inherited the family business... Until everyone in the Xue family had passed away one after another, he discovered that he wasn't actually their biological child. Before he could even process the truth, a truck driven by someone who'd been driving while exhausted knocked his car off a mountain road.
When he opened his eyes again, he was a little child who hadn't yet entered the Xue family. Thinking about his true origins, he felt tired and disillusioned, and resolutely chose a path entirely different from the one he'd taken in his previous life.
Using the advantage of being reborn, he brought the release of the special medicine for treating Xue Shu forward by ten years. Once he was sure Xue Shu would be fine, Ye Bozhou drove to the mountain road where he'd died in his previous life.
In the second before he crashed through the guardrail, he saw Xue Shu's car speeding over, blocking the cliff ahead of him.
Their cars collided. The airbag wrapped around him, and in the second before he suffocated, a flicker of regret suddenly came to him: in two lifetimes, he hadn't managed to sleep with his adoptive older brother, who shared no blood ties with him at all.

Starting at twelve, Xue Shu repeatedly dreamed about the same person.
Thin, solitary, pitiful, free as the wind. He was good at pretending to be well-behaved, could wrinkle his nose and act coy, and could call him "big brother" in a sweet voice.
But every time Xue Shu opened his eyes, the figure from his dream had vanished without a trace.
Later, he saw the person from his dreams in real life.
He wasn't well-behaved at all.
Cold, obsessive, and crazy, with nothing in his head but death and sex.
Xue Shu held his wandering hand and explained, "Dr. Ye, this isn't love."
"Of course I know."
Ye Bozhou gazed at him for a long time, pulled his hand free, then continued, asking, "Do you think I'd be capable of love if that weren't there?"
Xue Shu kissed the lips that were always saying self-loathing things.
Talking openly about love with Dr. Ye was hard.
But acting on it was easy.
A seemingly cool and stubborn bottom who's actually deeply self-destructive vs. a top who thinks he's forcing the other, but is actually being forced himself; he's like a fragile glass ornament who can only be held gently and indulged. He seems mean and fierce, but knows exactly how to handle his husband. He's sexually indifferent, except when it comes to his husband, then ***
