As a supernatural exploration streamer, Wan Yechuan thought he'd weathered every kind of storm.
Mysterious caves, abandoned schools, creepy factories... He'd visited too many supposedly haunted places, yet never saw so much as a ghost's shadow.
That only made him more reckless. Ignoring his seniors' warnings, he kept jumping around and doing everything he could to tempt fate.
At long last, the heavens rewarded his persistence, and he got himself tangled up with the real thing.
Wan Yechuan is on the verge of tears as he frantically asks a senior for help. The senior lets out a long sigh. "It's come to this. Go find yourself a guardian spirit."
-
He gets a guardian spirit, and the unclean things seem to disappear too.
Still shaken, Wan Yechuan finds an excuse to announce an indefinite hiatus and retires from the scene for good.
But those things don't seem willing to let him go so easily.
He goes to the hospital for a checkup, and the elevator suddenly goes haywire. Its ghastly pale lights flicker as it carries him straight down to Level -18. When the doors open, a little girl is standing right there, clutching her head and sobbing:
"Waaah, big brother, my head hurts so much..."
As she speaks, the head in her arms turns around by itself.
He goes to a convenience store to buy something, and the cashier suddenly hands him a piece of paper covered in rules with a creepy grin. "Convenience store rules. Be sure to follow them~"
Even when he takes the bus, something he can't tell is human or ghost squeezes aboard and does nothing but stare at him. After a while, the bus reaches the Road to the Underworld.
Wan Yechuan: ...I didn't do anything. Please leave me alone.
-
Fortunately, Wan Yechuan's guardian spirit is quite reliable. No matter what kind of monster shows its face, it gets taken out on sight.
Even so, Wan Yechuan is exhausted. Who could stand having ghosts pop up from the most unexpected places?
Finally, he can't take it anymore. He drops to his knees before the shrine where his guardian spirit is enshrined, sniffling and sobbing:
"Spirit, please!!! I know you're all-powerful, so please be kind and make these things stop tormenting me! I promise I'll never tempt fate or explore haunted places again. Please let me off this time!!"
As soon as the words leave his mouth, silence falls all around. Gradually, the air around Wan Yechuan grows thin, and a bone-deep chill creeps slowly up his spine.
"Do you really mean that?"
A cold hand settles on Wan Yechuan's shoulder. He shudders and grits his teeth, nodding frantically. "I do, I do! I mean every word!!"
"..."
The hand slowly lifts from his shoulder. Wan Yechuan lets out a long breath and cautiously turns around, only to meet the resentful gaze of a man dressed in white.
The man glares at him in exasperation and sighs repeatedly. Under Wan Yechuan's astonished gaze, he pulls a phone from his robes. Its camera is still recording, the red light flashing.
He gestures for Wan Yechuan to keep quiet, then produces a tripod from who knows where.
Once the phone is set up and the angle adjusted, he points the camera at Wan Yechuan. Only then does he give him an approving "OK" sign and let out a loud, tearful cry:
"Ghosties, who gets it? Your cyber human pet is quitting! Ghosties passing through the livestream, tap that little red heart and follow the streamer! Once we hit ten million followers, I'll drag your cyber pet back here even if I have to grab him by force!"
Wan Yechuan: …6

2. Idealist worldview. Don't get hung up on material questions, mmkay.
3. Includes a past lives and present lives reincarnation trope, and supports the one-person theory.
4. (Pseudo) infinite flow. There will be instances, but the story won't strictly follow them.
5. Fairly lighthearted and silly, so feel free to read ww
