I Steal the Moon for You

[The story of Chang'e, bright and clever, becoming a goddess]

The moon immortal Chang'e has no regrets about stealing the elixir, because it had belonged to her all along.

In ancient times, when Chang'e first came into being and the world was still in chaos, the god Yi came to the Fusang tree in Tanggu with a red bow and white arrows, rescuing her from a burning wasteland.

But back then, her name was not Chang'e. It was Hengwo.

A hundred years later, when Hengwo saw the god Yi again, he had already forgotten her. Hengwo repaid her debt by dying in the Battle of Zhuolu, and from then on, they owed each other nothing.

It was in her second life that Hengwo was born with a pearl of elixir in her mouth, as the daughter of a shaman.

Hengwo devoted herself to helping Yi, only to see how deeply he loved the Lady of the Chunhu clan.

Yi thought Hengwo meddled too much and sent her wandering across the four seas and eight wildernesses. He hated her shamanic arts, despised everything about her, and drove her away.

After Hengwo left, Yi sent people to search for her across the ends of the earth, only to ask her one question.

"Where is the elixir of immortality?"

Yi seized power through conspiracy, and the only person in his heart was the Lady of the Chunhu clan. For her, he would willingly brave fire and water and give his life.

When the Lady of the Chunhu clan fell gravely ill and the world was thrown into chaos, rumors said that shamans could glimpse the will of Heaven, so he sought Hengwo out again.

But as he followed Hengwo's trail and heard her stories, learning that she was benevolent and helped the people, Yi's heart began to waver.

A dull ache stirred in his chest, as if memories from thousands of years were rushing back.

P.S. I wanted to tell a story about Chang'e. It's pure fantasy, inspired by the framework of Eastern mythology, with some fictional elements.

Theme: I'd rather be myself.
