Mystery novelist (bottom) X criminal investigation captain (top)

Wen Ke is an online mystery novelist. His stories are so eerie that people curse him mercilessly, and he has even received razor blades in the mail from readers.

What no one knows is that the stories he writes are based on real events.

He once witnessed a murder, but he was so young at the time that no one took him seriously. Even his parents thought he was talking nonsense.

Only he knows that everything he said was true.

They arrested the wrong person for the murder back then.

Many years later, he reveals the secret he has kept hidden by writing it into a novel. He never expected that one day the plot he wrote would become a real-life crime.

The real killer has appeared and is killing people in the same way.

If nothing unexpected happens, he will be one of the victims. The killer will not let him go.

Because of the "identical" method of killing, Wen Ke becomes a key person of interest to the police.

Cheng Qiong, former captain of the Criminal Investigation Brigade of Pingchuan City Public Security Bureau, is temporarily assigned to Heping Street Police Station due to a work transfer. There, he takes part in investigating the "missing cat case."

Cheng Qiong thinks Wen Ke is a strange man: strange temper, strange personality, even a strange way of dressing.

Wen Ke thinks Cheng Qiong is sick in the head. Seriously, there's something wrong with him!

They dislike each other from the start, but as the investigation deepens, they discover that the other isn't entirely incompetent.
