Wukong's Trial of Love

The Supreme Lord Lao: "I want to send you down to the mortal world to enlighten Sun Wukong, so he can take refuge in Buddhism sooner. That would also settle the romantic tribulation of this life for you."

Lin Daiyu's eyes widened. She was supposed to enlighten Sun Wukong? How could that be possible? Sun Wukong was the Great Sage Equal to Heaven, afraid of nothing under the heavens. How could a mere woman like her possibly enlighten him?

"Lord Lao, this... I'm afraid that's not appropriate," Lin Daiyu tried to refuse.

But the Supreme Lord Lao waved a hand. "I've already discussed this with the Great Bodhisattva Guanyin. There's no need to worry. I'll send someone to protect you in secret. Just go and do what you must."

Lin Daiyu was about to say more, but Bodhisattva Guanyin interrupted her. "Fairy Daiyu, you and Sun Wukong were fated to meet in a past life. Your trip to the mortal world now is also the work of fate."

Lin Daiyu was even more puzzled. In her previous life, she had been no more than an immortal herb. How could she possibly have anything to do with Sun Wukong?

"What are you laughing at?" Sun Wukong asked, scratching his head and ears, a little embarrassed by her laughter.

"Nothing. I just think you're interesting." Lin Daiyu covered her mouth with a quiet laugh, her eyes twinkling with a hint of mischief. "You little monkey, you're a bit cuter than I expected."

Her words sent Sun Wukong's heart fluttering. His fiery golden eyes stared straight at Lin Daiyu, as if he meant to see right through her.

"You... what are you looking at?" Lin Daiyu felt a little uneasy under his gaze, and a faint blush rose on her cheeks.
