The 1980s: The Whole Family Comes from the Prosperous Tang Dynasty (Ancient to Modern)

Ye Cheng had no other great love in life besides good food. So when the people under him brought him a rare delicacy as a gift, he immediately took it home to share. The whole family took a bite, and soon the plate of mushrooms was empty. They were unbelievably delicious!

Suddenly, the world spun and green lights danced before his eyes. His heart lurched, and he shouted, "They're poisonous!"

Before the words had even left his mouth, bang, bang, bang: the family of three collapsed in a row.

The last thought of the youngest daughter, Ye Panxi, was: "There's still one last bite on the plate. I didn't get to eat it. What a waste!"

When Ye Panxi woke up again, the world had changed. She'd been taken to a strange place where all the women had short hair and were skin and bones. They even said she was an unfilial daughter who had pushed her parents into the river.

Was she that kind of person? The most she'd ever done was snatch the last bite off a plate!

In this strange place, surrounded by strange people, she glanced to the side and saw a gaunt couple she didn't recognize lying beside her. Uh-oh. Ye Panxi had a bad feeling.

She knew those faces: they were the people who had eaten the mushrooms with her and dropped dead.

She didn't dare say a word. How had her parents suddenly changed so much?

After a kindhearted villager spun a vivid tale, the Ye family began to piece things together. Though Ye Cheng was only a low-ranking seventh-grade county magistrate, he kept his cool and gave his wife and daughter a reassuring look. "Don't worry. I've got this!"

Then came the face-slapping, and it came fast.

The seventh-grade magistrate father, too weak to lift a hand or carry a load: "What? Me? Carry a hoe and work the fields?!"

The beautiful mother, who loved looking good and enjoying herself but hated raising children: "What? We can't even keep warm?! And there are three kids?!"

The daughter, who loved food with all her heart: "What! We can't even eat our fill?!"

The family stared at one another. What kind of earthly misery was this? Even the most refined people had to look up at the heavens and curse. "Damn you, rotten heavens!"

P.S. Family life, gossip, and working toward a better life. Come see how these people from ancient times make their lively way into the modern age. There may well be no romance, and if there is, it'll be very little. It's not a career-focused story either, just everyday life!
