An Yu lost both his parents when he was little and grew up in an orphanage. He had no grand ambitions, only wanting to earn money steadily.
Who could have guessed that buying discounted sushi would give him food poisoning and make him transmigrate into a book as a vicious cannon fodder character?
He thought that with the plot in hand, getting the protagonist Huo Xilin under his thumb would be a piece of cake.
But before he could even approach, a black car cut him off.
A refined-looking man rolled down the window, his tone cool. "Don't interfere with them."
An Yu was baffled. "Wait, who are you, exactly?"
The man was the protagonist's maternal uncle, who protected his nephew like his life depended on it. He hated pretty but useless ornaments like An Yu, and went straight to the point: "Name your price and leave my nephew."
Which mattered more, money or a man? Obviously, making money!
From then on, An Yu stayed away from wherever the protagonist went and devoted himself to making money. He avoided the plot and just wanted to get rich by lying flat.
Huo Linzhou was a powerful, influential figure in Jinghai City, ruthless and decisive.
Rumor had it that he was a fearsome, swift-acting King of Hell, yet he showed tenderness only to his nephew, whom he spoiled endlessly.
When he learned his nephew had someone he loved, he secretly tried to bring them together. But every time things seemed about to work out, An Yu would ruin it.
An Yu had clearly taken the money, yet he still appeared beside Huo Xilin again and again. After several twists and turns, Huo Linzhou decided to get rid of him.
But when he looked at that strikingly beautiful face, he hesitated. The other man took his hand and gave it a little shake, his voice utterly innocent.
"I didn't go looking for him. Does it still count if he came looking for me?"
"Why don't you name another price? I'll leave the country right away."
Huo Linzhou pressed his lips together. "No need. From now on, you're staying with me."
Watching his savings grow ever larger, An Yu was thoroughly pleased.
Whenever he happened to run into Huo Linzhou, his money-loving side would come out in full force, and he would chase after him to ask if there were any other side jobs.
"Want me to help you pursue someone? Friends-and-family price: 9,999."
"Want me to buy you coffee? It's cheap, just give me 40 for the delivery."
"Want me to..."
An Yu didn't think there was anything wrong with being told to stay by Huo Linzhou's side, until one day he accidentally walked in on him taking a shower.
The words murmured from the man's lips were unmistakably An Yu's name.
Shocked, An Yu turned to run, but was pulled into the bathroom.
A wet hand held his chin in place. All he could hear was the man's low, husky voice: "Eavesdropping isn't a good habit."
An Yu blinked. "Um... if I say it was an accident, will you believe me?"
Huo Linzhou gave a derisive laugh but didn't let go.
"I'm richer than Huo Xilin. Instead of liking him, why not like me?"
