Recommended read: "Teacher Gojo Is Still Working Overtime Today," a story about the older Gojo and Takizawa Yo (Ilya). This story, on the other hand, is about younger Gojo as a high school student and Ilya. The protagonists of the two stories are alternate counterparts.
Blurb:
Before a poetry collection signing, Ilya was washing his hands in the restroom when he suddenly heard a clear conversation outside the door.
Gojo: "Suguru, why are we waiting in such a long line? We finally have some free time to come to Ginza. Why not go get some of those amazing new desserts together?"
Suguru: "Because today is the signing for the poetry collection The Soul's Sigh, and Shoko wants an autograph too. Gojo, it's two against one."
Gojo: "Tch. Fine, fine."
Suguru: "You don't like this poetry collection, Gojo?"
Gojo: "It's okay. The language is sorrowful and beautiful, and that's all well and good, but it's not to my taste."
Just then, Ilya silently passed them by. The two of them froze.
Gojo: "...Suguru, you might not believe this, but I fell in love at first sight just now!"
Suguru: "Huh?!!"
Gojo: "You don't believe me? I'm serious!"
Suguru: "Uh, it's not that I don't believe you, it's just... the person who just walked by is the author of that poetry collection! (Looks at him sympathetically)"
During the signing, Ilya was about to sign a book for the next reader when he spotted a familiar-looking figure in white hair and sunglasses. Ilya reached for the book in the other person's hands, waiting to be signed, but realized they weren't letting go.
Ilya: ...?
Gojo: "Uh, I wanted to say... please marry me!"
Ilya: "...But we're not together, and we don't even know each other?"
Gojo (eyes lighting up): "Then we know each other now. Can we get married?"
Ilya: "...No!"
At Jujutsu High, Shoko was whispering to Suguru.
Shoko (quietly): "Did Gojo's great romance scheme work out today?"
Suguru (just as quietly): "No."
Shoko (quietly): "Is he really not going to give up? You can't force a melon to be sweet."
Gojo (appearing out of nowhere): "But it does quench your thirst!"
Just as Gojo was drowning in the misery of his unrequited love, Ilya suddenly confessed to him. Delighted but bewildered, Gojo couldn't help asking:
Gojo: "If Ilya likes me, why did you keep turning down my confessions before?"
Ilya: "Because you were a high school student."
Gojo (confused): "What's wrong with being a young, invincible high school student?"
Ilya: "You were a high school student, but I'm an adult! (Shouting)"
Reading Guide:
1. This story is a crossover between Jujutsu Kaisen and Bungo Stray Dogs. The protagonist has an ability, and the Bungo Stray Dogs setting includes an original character.
2. The timeline has been adjusted slightly. The main story begins when Gojo starts at Jujutsu High.
3. They officially start dating after Gojo becomes an adult. Before that, it's an intense back-and-forth before the confession. Adulthood is defined as 18.
Theme: Companionship is the longest love confession.
