The Death Ledger [Crime Investigation]

While sorting through the belongings of his late best friend, Cheng Yannan finds a journal filled with names of people he doesn't know. Each name has a cross marked beside it. At first, Cheng Yannan thinks nothing of it, assuming it was simply a ledger his friend kept to record debts.

But then Cheng Yannan sees a report on television about a brutal death, and the victim's name is identical to one in his friend's journal. Only then does it hit him that the journal his late friend left behind holds a secret.

Three days later, Cheng Yannan is suddenly robbed and nearly killed. He happens to be saved by the help of the annoying neighbor next door.

Afterward, Cheng Yannan learns that his annoying neighbor is a police officer, and a high-ranking one at that.

"College student, no need to thank me."

Cheng Yannan hesitates, then finally asks the question weighing on his soul: "If a police officer is disturbing the peace, can I call the police?"
