Li Chuan was one of those who longed to die.

Thirteen years ago, the various regions sent out their most elite agents. They crossed the borders of five countries to hunt down "Leech," a drug kingpin who was the stuff of nightmares. In the end, they discovered him near the border.

But, for reasons no one could understand, the capture plan succeeded, yet everyone involved died heroically. Only the undercover agent "Fishbone" and Li Chuan, who was just eighteen, survived.

No one knew what had happened in that battle.

Thirteen years later, forensic examiner Lao Guo of the criminal investigation team was no longer up to the job. Li Chuan, a frontline forensic examiner, was urgently transferred to Jiang City to take his place.

The first time Qin Che saw Li Chuan, he felt the man looked strangely familiar. "Chief Forensic Examiner Li, have we met somewhere before?"

Li Chuan answered from behind his mask, "What a coincidence. I was thinking the same thing."

A murder case. Four victims. The two join forces to find the culprit behind it all. As one baffling case after another unfolds, the secret from thirteen years ago slowly comes to light, revealing a truth that sends a shiver through you.

And through his repeated attempts to probe Li Chuan, Qin Che discovers that he is the very man he's been waiting for all these thirteen years.

Qin Che: "Dr. Li, I've been waiting for someone."

Li Chuan: "Who?"

Qin Che: "He's the person I admire most, and the faith I've held onto all my life."

Li Chuan: "How long has Captain Qin been waiting?"

Qin Che: "Thirteen years."

Li Chuan: "He isn't coming back."

Qin Che: "He will. He's right here in front of me at this very moment."

P.S. 1. This is a fantasy modern crime investigation story, but that doesn't mean the protagonist has some overpowered golden finger. The abilities he has are simply because he's a genetically modified experimental subject whose body is different from an ordinary person's. That's all.
