What the Heck Is This Bungou Stray Dogs Romance System?!

Rimbaud, who chose to exhaust his ability and die as a singularity to keep his partner Paul Verlaine alive, has been reborn. Not only has Rimbaud returned to the age of sixteen, this time he's also bound to a dating sim romance System. So tell me, how can he possibly lose? Changing the future's bad ending will be as easy as pie. As easy as pie. Rimbaud can practically see the wonderful life ahead of him: marrying Verlaine, adopting a younger brother, and staying together forever. Who knew fate's gifts came with a hidden price tag? A dating sim romance System, but it's broken. With the "wholehearted assistance" of the dumb System, the falling-out four years later is no longer a problem for Rimbaud... Because every day from then on is one disaster after another. Rimbaud: I can't even smile. Watch as weary Rimbaud turns the tide and manages to renew his partnership again and again, despite the dumb System constantly holding him back. Rimbaud: Being reborn was supposed to be a happy occasion, so why did I get saddled with this wretched romance System to torment me!? Content warnings: 1. Rimbaud and Verlaine are still an equal pairing. They're both so dominant that I can't picture either one as the top or bottom. Let's just say Rimbaud is the one who makes the most effort to express his feelings as he tries to keep renewing their partnership. 2. Dual protagonists. Rimbaud's perspective is more prominent early on, and Verlaine needs to develop a worldview first. 3. The main settings aren't all decided yet, but the story will still have little to do with the original. 4. This is a deranged work written when the author couldn't manage serious fiction. The characters belong to the original work, and any OOC behavior is my fault. Lots of personal canon. 5. Everything is fictional. Believe in kindness and beauty. P.S. This is a repost of an older work, moved here. Yun Qi Song Feng Xiao gave me a lot of guidance on the concept and writing style. I'm very grateful for her help. P.P.S. Thanks as well to reader Juan Ye Jiang for later helping me further refine the story's direction. I'm very grateful. First published on Jinjiang on 2023.05.20; screenshot saved.
