After becoming an official, she discovered that the aloof and self-possessed Chancellor was a fox demon. Late at night, he would lie on her bed, his every glance alluring, intent on draining her nourishing essence. "I hear your cold has lingered for quite some time, Attendant. I have a secret remedy. Take off all your clothes and sleep with me."

Yan Jinxi was only a mediocre demon hunter. She couldn't exorcise demons, but luckily, she had a silver tongue and could keep those men wrapped around her little finger.

To the painted-skin demon, she clasped his hands and gazed into his tearful eyes, pouring out her heart with deep affection. "I have important matters I can't leave behind. Once I've made something of myself, I'll come for you."

To the evil ghost, she wept and reluctantly gave him a coral bracelet as a token of their love. "Let this bracelet be our proof. My love for you will never fail, even if the seas dry up and the rocks crumble."

To the Regent, she spoke passionately, laying bare her painful predicament. "Our stations are worlds apart. If outsiders learn about our relationship, they'll grow suspicious, and it won't be good for either of us."

To the Chancellor, she held back her tears and vowed not to give in. "I know you love me, but you should think about how I feel. I don't like you being so casual."

They believed her, but what awaited them was Yan Jinxi's merciless abandonment. She had actually exploited their weaknesses to kill them with her own hands.
