In the spring when he was seventeen, Su Shize first met Liu Songjin. Liu was leading a group of people in beating up one of Su's former classmates. Su stepped in to help, only to get beaten up himself. In the end, they both wound up in the disciplinary office.

Later, Su learned that Liu had simply mistaken him for someone else because he wasn't wearing his glasses.

They gradually grew closer. On the day Su Shize confessed, Liu Songjin pulled a crumpled rose from his pocket.

"I don't ask for anything else. I just want you to be happy."

Before leaving, Su Shize called out to Liu Songjin. When Liu turned around, Su desperately wanted to say something else: what to have for dinner, where to go after graduation, aliens, death, the meaning of life. Anything at all. But he said nothing. He stared at Liu for a long while, then turned and walked away.

Everyone has a destined path, and the right people will meet again along the way.

In the summer when he was eighteen, the little liar Su Shize went abroad to study.

When he met Liu Songjin again, he was twenty-three. Liu was gently coaxing his son to sleep.

Su Shize remembered a bet they'd made in high school. Liu had asked him seriously what he would do if Liu got married and had a child someday.

Su Shize had said nonchalantly, "Then I'll give you 600 as a wedding gift and 100,000 when you have a kid."

Four years later, Liu Songjin had a child, and Su Shize really did give him 100,000.
