*This blurb probably isn't final. Anything may change before the novel begins.
*After giving it some thought, I've moved it to the historical fantasy category. The premise and protagonists are still the same, and most of the blurb is unchanged, with a few adjustments below.
Sorry for the trouble. I'll leave some time for everyone to see this notice and update their favorites., May 12, 2026
The demon clan was driven to desperation by the righteous cultivators of the immortal sects. They held an emergency meeting that very night and unanimously voted for a (terrible) plan: send a demon undercover to steal the bloodline of the most unusual cultivator.
That way, they could not only corrupt his power but also use it to nurture a sacred-blood demon fetus. Then the demon clan would never again have to fear his strength!
As Wu Tan was lost in thought about how to remove the curse mark, he spoke unhurriedly: "I'll do it."
*
Their target, Lou Xiuye, was born into the oldest and most rigorous cultivation family. Among his exceptionally gifted peers, he stood out for his talent and brilliance. He seemed aloof, but was actually meticulous and extremely difficult to deal with.
Wu Tan disguised himself as a human and infiltrated the Lou family. He slacked off in his cultivation and never came back after being sent to run errands. At last, they assigned him to the one job no one had ever lasted ten days at: a broom-wielding disciple.
Wu Tan: "^_^"
Lou Xiuye: (watching him warily)
On a mission
Lou Xiuye: Kill this thing.
Wu Tan: But he's a good demon.
Lou Xiuye: This creature is guilty of heinous crimes.
Wu Tan: He'll turn over a new leaf~
During an interrogation
Lou Xiuye (coldly): Tell us, why did you infiltrate the immortal sect?
Captured demon (gazing fervently at his fellow demons in the distance): To carry on the will of our predecessors and fulfill the mission of those who came before us! The demon clan will never be slaves!
Wu Tan: "^_^"
Lou Xiuye glanced at Wu Tan, smiling cheerfully without a care in the world, and sensed that something was off.
Though he seemed carefree and unserious, Wu Tan's missions always succeeded in bizarre ways. After what he considered countless hardships (not really, he smiled so much every day his cheeks hurt), he finally achieved his goal and simply left.
No one knew exactly what happened that day. They only knew that, for years afterward, tensions ran high between the human and demon realms.
Some said the former Daoist genius had gone mad. He publicly defected from the Lou family, suffered a lightning punishment that destabilized his cultivation, and fell from the heights of glory.
The only thing anyone could be sure of was that he was rarely seen again.
Whatever the truth, everyone was convinced that Lou Xiuye hated that demon to the core.
Until news arrived that Wu Tan had died.
An unusually heavy snowfall lasted for days, adding a few more traces of frost to the solitary figure on the road.
When the young lord of the Lou family appeared before everyone again, he had not only reclaimed the top spot among his generation but also taken control of the entire Lou family, becoming the most powerful figure of the moment.
Yet there was not a hint of joy on his face. For some reason, his eyes were covered with white cloth. He wore all white, and in his arms he held a crying baby.
The child was full of demonic energy. On closer inspection, it even bore some resemblance to the great demon Wu Tan.
Lou Xiuye lowered his eyes and said calmly, "Mine. The child is mine."
The Lou family and the other great sects: ???...!!!!?

Bonus Scene
"Pfft, what is this..."
Wu Tan, now living in seclusion under a new identity, was fishing when he saw the ridiculous gossip in the Cultivation Daily and nearly choked on a mouthful of water.
He picked it up again and glanced at a comment: "I heard the child's other parent turned demonic and was personally subdued by the family head. What a moving example of putting righteousness before family!" He couldn't help coughing, then touched his face and leaned back in his chair.
Fine. He hadn't planned on seeing him again anyway. It would be best if they didn't recognize each other and passed like strangers.
The sky is vast and the sea is wide. May he never run into Lou Xiuye again.
Wu Tan tugged his straw hat lower and suddenly felt a chill run down his spine and the back of his neck, as if a pair of clear, deep eyes were watching him from afar.
Couple: A carefree, debonair, black-bellied undercover demon with plenty of quirks × the dignified, unyielding leader of the righteous sects, whose heart is fragile and destined to go mad
Reading Guide
※ 1v1, happy ending, not serious
※ An alternate ancient cultivation world, with my own brand of fantasy and a mishmash of elements. Please don't get hung up on the details.
※ There's a baby in the story, but the great demon didn't "give birth" to it. How do I explain this? It's really hard to put into words, so just listen to me ramble ^-^ Also, the child isn't harmed.
※ Readers with strong preferences should proceed with caution. The characters' values don't represent the author's. The setting, plot, and romance are all melodramatic. If you encounter something you don't like, click away and cut your losses. Let's part on good terms; don't force yourself to keep reading.
