The Child Hidden in the Water Jar

After quitting my job, I rented a little courtyard in the countryside.

The previous owner had left behind a large water jar. It had probably once held lotus flowers, since most of the bottom was covered in mud. I decided to put a few pretty little goldfish I’d picked up at the night market in it.

When I got tired each day, I could take a walk around the courtyard and feed the fish.

For some reason, the kid next door was always sneaking up the wall to stare at the big water jar in my courtyard.

At first, I thought he was watching the fish too. Then one day, he suddenly said:

“Big sis, there’s a child buried in that jar.”
