One moment, Lin Mu was practicing swordsmanship in his sect. The next, he had transmigrated to a bustling metropolis.
Under the astonished gazes of the crowd, Lin Mu quietly put away his life-bound sword and took out the brocade pouch his master had given him.
After reading its contents, Lin Mu wanted to drop dead on the spot.
There was an address on the note, indicating some farm or other, along with a long list of prohibitions: don't use magic in public, don't reveal your identity, and don't leave the farm without permission.
Before Lin Mu could figure out how to get to the farm, the police came after him and hauled him away in handcuffs.
Only after sitting through a lecture did Lin Mu get released, and his life-bound sword was confiscated.
Clutching the pouch in one hand and the note in the other, Lin Mu used every last ounce of willpower to suppress his urge to curse his master for betraying him.
On the now-crumpled note, he could clearly read: "My dear disciple, don't panic if they've confiscated your life-bound sword. Your master already got in touch with your martial uncle and asked him to sort it out! All you have to do is work on the farm and earn ten million to buy your sword back. What do you think? Pretty worthwhile, right?"
After silently reciting the Heart-Cleansing Mantra forty-nine times, Lin Mu unfolded the note again and walked to the farm.
The moment he stepped onto the farm, Lin Mu was left utterly bewildered.
He pushed open the rusty gate, walked through weeds that nearly reached his waist, then opened the door to the house. On the altar just inside sat an enormous egg. It was even multicolored.
A note was attached, written unmistakably in his master's handwriting.
"Good disciple, this isn't food. It's your future wife~"
Lin Mu stood frozen as if struck by a binding spell.
What was this? His future wife?
But...
Why was she an egg?
After his master and martial uncle swindled him out of a fortune, Lin Mu began a miserable life of farming to save up for his wife (crossed out) egg.
Reader's guide: 1. From the protagonist's perspective, and he is the pursuer.
2. A poor pursuer. Circumstances gradually make Lin Mu extremely stingy. A sword cultivator's greatest asset is his sword! First, save up to buy it back. Everything else can wait!
3. The canon pairing is an egg, and it's very delicate.
