Machi of the Zoldycks

I am the Control Devil, and also a member of the infamous Zoldyck family of Kukuroo Mountain. I have no memories, but there's one thought in my heart that I can't forget. It often calls to me in my mind.

[Find him... Makima, find him...]

Who am I supposed to find?

I came from Hell to the human world and lost many of my memories, but that doesn't mean I've forgotten that I'm a devil. Looking at the humans around me, who are so full of love for me, I thought that perhaps if I kept living, the strange voice calling to me would one day make sense.

After a mission, for the first time in ages, I wanted to take a walk nearby.

Our target was a high-ranking figure. He had learned from people in his network that he was about to die: the Zoldyck family of assassins had marked him for assassination. So, despite hiring many bodyguards, he tried to hide, and eventually took refuge in this forest.

My brother Illumi and I completed the mission without a hitch. After we got into the car, I looked out at the lush green scenery and suddenly felt like going for a walk. So, after we had driven for a while, I told the driver to stop.

The driver explained that this area was close to town and was under development.

My brother asked what I wanted to see. I didn't know. I wasn't interested in how the town might develop in the future. I just wanted to take a walk, as I'd said before.

So that's exactly what I told him.

"I just want to take a walk."

Maybe there was no need to hide how I felt from my brother, who cared about what I wanted. I answered him honestly.

"What do you think I want to do, Brother?"

"..."

And so, this inexplicable excursion turned into a walk with just Illumi and me.

As we chatted, we came to an area where trees were being felled. The noisy buzz of machinery reached us, and trees crashed to the ground with a tremendous roar. A sudden stirring rose inside me. A feeling so familiar that it left me silent surfaced, and I suddenly understood what the noise was.

It was the sound of a chainsaw.

And it seemed that this world didn't have a Chainsaw Man.

Moral: Live well.
