After Becoming the Top Scholar's Stepsister

Wen Wuyan came from a humble background. Even at a young age, she had a curvaceous figure. People often said she was unfit for respectable society, a little fox spirit. Her mother disliked her and raised her at a country estate. Even after remarrying a high-ranking official in the capital, she never came back for her.

On the day Wen Wuyan came of age, bandits ransacked the estate. Left all alone, she headed to the capital, her petite frame knocking on the door of the prime minister's residence.

That night, the prime minister's residence blazed with light, and the whole capital was in an uproar.

From then on, the bewitching girl from the countryside became the prime minister's stepdaughter, and the stepsister of Xie Buci, the famous top-ranking candidate in the palace examinations.

No one knew how she had survived the bandits and made the long journey to the capital.

Only Wen Wuyan knew, in her midnight dreams, how she had fought desperately to climb into the carriage of a handsome young nobleman, and how she had cast aside her dignity to seduce him into taking her in, trading her chastity for a place to live.

Unfortunately, luck had never been on her side, and this time she had misjudged things too. What was supposed to be a simple transaction, yet the young nobleman insisted on taking her back to his residence.

Wen Wuyan did not want to marry a madman who was so different from his outward appearance. Terrified, she fled to the prime minister's residence in the middle of the night. To this day, she still did not know who that young nobleman was.

The newly crowned top-ranking candidate, a man of such distinction, had suddenly acquired a stepsister with a scandalous reputation, and women all over the capital were tearing their handkerchiefs to shreds over it.

Everyone said she was a fox spirit like her mother, and that she would shamelessly cling to her stepbrother and defile someone as otherworldly as Xie Buci.

Fortunately, Xie Buci had yet to return home since coming back to the capital. He was always out searching for someone. Someone hurriedly sent her own brother to warn Xie Buci, only to receive a cold reprimand.

Everyone was reassured.

Of course. Xie Buci had always been aloof and kept his distance from women. He cared deeply about propriety, and a woman like that could never win him over.

But a year later, Xie Buci went mad.

A beauty who could bring ruin to a nation, with a sweet and gentle temperament, as the stepsister x an otherworldly stepbrother who turns into a mad, corrupted villain
