Dai Wei was born and raised in Gotham.
Before Dai Wei truly understood Gotham, he always thought that Gotham's synonyms of "darkness" and "horror" were exaggerations and false propaganda from outsiders.
But when his family was beaten to death because of his father's drug addiction and his mother's gambling, and he himself worked for the gang in order to survive - when he was working like a horse, he truly understood that "darkness" has always been the correct understanding of Gotham.
He had no one left to fight for, so when he became bait again, became a scapegoat and was beaten half to death, he exploded.
He killed the gang and managed to get admitted to Arkham Asylum due to his mental problems.
Dai Wei feels that the people in Arkham are really talented and kind-hearted, and he likes it here very much.
