Once upon a time, there was a Guixu Mountain. On the mountain stood a Guixu Pavilion, where a family of three lived an ordinary, happy life.
When the emperor of the mortal realm heard that the Guixu Pavilion housed an elixir of immortality, he led an army of thousands to attack it.
The pavilion gates opened, and out came a little donkey, munching on a red apple as it lazily rubbed its side against the wall to scratch an itch.
It spoke, but its first words were a string of curses: "Which blind fool dares interrupt your Grandpa Donkey's afternoon tea? The master isn't home. He went out to gather inspiration. Now get lost, all of you. If you don't leave soon, I'll kick you to death."
When the sect leader of the Spirit Realm heard that the Guixu Pavilion held rare treasures, he led his disciples there to demand them.
The pavilion gates opened, and out came a three-year-old toddler, rubbing his sleepy eyes with a pouty little face.
"Who are you guys? Daddy and Papa are still taking a nap. They can't see you, so go away."
When powerful figures in the Immortal Realm heard that the Guixu Pavilion contained divine artifacts, they came in groups to extort them.
The pavilion gates opened, and out came a man dressed in green, with brows like distant mountains and hair like a waterfall. His voice was as lovely as a clear spring flowing gently over stones. "You've come at an inconvenient time. My husband is away today, and I don't wish to make trouble for you. Please, everyone, go home."
The Underworld, the Demon Realm, the Devil Realm, the Buddhist Realm, the Asura Realm...
The cultivators came in one wave after another, and each wave was beaten back. Some were kicked by the donkey until they cried out in pain, while others were pummeled by the toddler with a little wooden stick until they wailed for their fathers and mothers. The man in green rarely lifted a finger, merely watering the flowers nearby with a kettle.
Just then, a helpless call came from inside the Guixu Pavilion: "My dear, Xiaobao, stop playing. Come home for dinner."
At the sound of it, the toddler dropped his wooden stick and ran barefoot into the house, pattering as he went. "Daddy, what delicious things did you make today?"
The man in green set down the kettle. As the toddler passed him, he bent down and scooped him into his arms, then patted his dusty, plump white feet twice. "You forgot your shoes again. If your daddy sees you, he'll spank you."
The toddler wrapped his arms around the man's neck and batted his eyes, wheedling, "Papa, please ask Daddy to go easy on Xiaobao. Daddy always listens to you."
