I'm Sorry, Your Majesty, Immortal Cultivation Is Forbidden

In the thirty-fifth year of the First Emperor's reign, Lu Sheng spoke of immortals. The emperor admired them and called himself a "True Man" instead of "We, the Emperor."

In the thirty-seventh year, Ying Zheng kicked the bucket and was reborn in the mortal world of the immortal realm he'd long dreamed of.

No matter. The important thing was that he had a fresh start, and the immortals in this world could be seen, touched, and tracked down.

So he began planning from birth. After making inquiries everywhere, by the age of seven he'd mapped out his grand plan: "Three years to build a foundation, five years to ascend."

But before the plan could even get underway, an "immortal" who'd come down the mountain to recruit disciples delivered his verdict:

"You have neither a spiritual root nor a bone for wisdom. You are an ordinary mortal through and through, with no hope of cultivation."

Ying Zheng was devastated, but no matter. The worst was yet to come:

"But your younger brother is an unparalleled cultivation prodigy. Hand him over to me."

Ying Zheng stared at the chubby little bundle, still drooling and grinning foolishly at him, then gave a cold laugh.

"Fine, but on one condition."

Until the child was old enough to know better, he'd only receive lessons at home. After that, he could only attend as a day student.

Come on, how could he hand over the right to educate the "elixir of immortality"?

Ten years later, Ying Zhao had gained basic flying skills. Gazing up at his tall elder brother as he prepared to leave home, he declared confidently:

"I understand: slay demons, banish evil, find the elixir of immortality!"

"And come home on time."

From then on, the sharp blade Ying Zheng had honed with his own hands was drawn. Wherever his armies marched, gods and ghosts alike trembled.
