Rainbow, Sky

“World-weary kitty && steady and goal-oriented”

Pei Zhiyi transferred schools often and never had a permanent home. She wasn't exactly the most sociable, either, and usually wore a sour expression.

No one at No. 1 High thought she was nice.

Ji Ling had never left Beicheng. Life was hard enough already, so she didn't have the energy to bother with socializing.

No one at No. 1 High liked spending time with her.

At first...

Pei Zhiyi couldn't stand seeing someone so wonderful get bullied, so she often stood up for her.

Annoying dogs and irritating pigs, get lost!

Later...

Ji Ling couldn't stand seeing someone so wonderful feeling down, either. When Pei Zhiyi irritably tossed aside her physics test, Ji Ling wrote out the solution and handed it back. When Pei Zhiyi silently left the crowd, Ji Ling followed without a word, quietly keeping her company.

And later still, they went through a lot together.

Pei Zhiyi stitched the sky back together, while Ji Ling caught the rainbow, and “while she was at it,” took someone's hand, too.

That someone, who had desperately wanted to keep a ten-thousand-meter distance from everyone, silently let her have her way, then gently squeezed her hand back a moment later.

Ji Ling smiled. Pei Zhiyi huffed, but didn't let go.

In the coldest winter, they met the whitest angel.
