The armory's inventory turns over every three months, but one weapon has been waiting there for three hundred years, ignored by everyone.
It wasn't that Zhou Min didn't want to leave. He was simply too expensive. The upkeep alone could burn through a whole city's treasury in a few days. Besides, he was damaged, so buying him wouldn't be much use... All he could do was wait out the years here.
Fortunately, he was very good at waiting, and eventually a young master came along who was gullible and loaded.
The armory owner used every trick in the book, then resorted to a hard sell, until he finally got the young master to buy Zhou Min for two copper coins and take him home to use as a kindling knife.
From then on, Zhou Min lived a divine life of minor illness every three days and major illness every five, with the young master treating him like a useless weakling. When his legs hurt, the young master massaged them; when he couldn't sleep, the young master soothed him.
But the young master seemed to have an idol hailed as the greatest under heaven. He went on about him day after day, reminiscing about him all the time, until Zhou Min's ears were practically callused. It drove him mad. He wished he could just beat the man to death and show him what true martial prowess looked like.
So Zhou Min raised an eyebrow and asked the young master, "What's your idol's name, anyway?"
"Zhou," said the young master. "His name is Zhou Mushang."
Zhou Min froze. Zhou Mushang was the name he'd once used while roaming the martial world. Before he'd gone mad and trained himself into a weapon, he really had been the greatest under heaven.
...Actually, Zhou Min had meant to keep it from the young master, but in the blink of an eye, the whole world was thrown into turmoil. Forced to draw his blade, he became that untouchable Zhou Mushang once more.
The young master turned and stared straight at him, seeming a little delirious. "Are you going to use Zhou Mushang's 'Empty Cicada' to chop firewood? It's a little chipped..."
"Come here and fix it for me."
"Huh?"
