Zhaozhao

Shen Zhaozhao is the finest and most popular tailor in Pingyang City.

One day, the newly appointed county magistrate summons her to take his measurements.

She has heard that this official is a newly crowned top scholar who was demoted here after offending someone. In just three days since arriving, he has already beaten and berated everyone in the county office.

Shen Zhaozhao nervously follows the bailiff through the hall, not daring to look up, afraid that one wrong move will earn her a beating.

Before she can even kneel, the person in the hall says, “Master Shen, you’ve had a hard journey. Someone, bring her a seat and tea.”

She looks up in surprise.

This official is nothing like the cruel, demon-like brute in the rumors. He is clearly a handsome, refined young man.

In his previous life, Pei Shu was framed and imprisoned, abandoned by everyone.

On the day of his execution, no one came to see him off. All he heard were curses.

Only the little tailor came, holding the burial clothes she had sewn for him by hand, saying she had come to accompany him on his final journey.

-

“Didn’t Master Shen come to take my measurements?”

“M-Milord, this outer robe is loose. I’m afraid I won’t get the measurements right.”

“Mm.” He spreads his long arms. “Then take it off.”

The little tailor: “?”

The hem of her clothes is embroidered with the signature roses of Chaoyun Fragrance, and she seems to carry the scent of roses herself.

He closes his eyes and breathes it in. It is so sweet and lovely.
