An Unforgettable Summer Vacation

Synopsis:

Bu Pingfan spends every summer and winter vacation at her maternal grandparents' house. But this summer, an unexpected change occurs: her grandparents move from a high-rise in the city center to a small house on the outskirts.

On moving day, Bu Pingfan accidentally crawls into a qisi cat cabinet (a Wanli cabinet). When she opens it again, she has turned into a little black dog called "Big Cabbage," the pet of an eight-year-old girl named Pingjing.

Pingfan cries out in her heart, "How did I turn into Mom's dog?! Did I transmigrate?! And into Mom's little black dog when she was only eight! What's going on?"

Through a dog's eyes, Pingfan takes part in her mother Pingjing's childhood.

Together, they witness a once-in-a-century flood. As they fight the flood and carry out relief efforts, Pingfan (Big Cabbage) joins two generations in protecting their home. In the end, she returns to reality with a new understanding of family and courage.

This is a "realistic children's novel." Its setting, relationships, and social issues are based on the real world. Even though it contains a fantastical element (transmigration), that element serves to reflect real-life issues, such as growing pains, family relationships, and school life.
