After the Foolish Beauty Volunteered for a Political Marriage

[A silly beauty x a burly pursuer]

Size difference / skin-tone difference

Everyone in the Great Zhou dynasty agreed that Prince Shi Jinyi was the most useless of the emperor’s sons. Without telling anyone, he took his sister’s place in the wedding palanquin, went to the grasslands as a political bride, and became the wife of Wolf King Qi Sun.

When the emperor found out, he fainted in front of all his ministers. After waking, he discovered that Shi Jinyi had left them a letter. It read:

Father, take care of your heart. I will help everyone bow down to the Wolf King!

Out of fourteen characters, three were wrong. The emperor felt a little comforted, but soon his heart was pounding with anxiety again.

Everyone in Great Zhou knew that Qi Sun was a brutal man. In just two years, he had killed the old Wolf King and seized the throne. From top to bottom, he had replaced the entire court.

Wasn’t his silly son just delivering himself to the wolves?!

The emperor wasn’t the only one who thought so. The officials of Great Zhou were trembling with fear, worried that Qi Sun would realize they had deceived him and lead his troops in an attack.

But a year passed without an invasion, and instead they received a letter.

Father, I hope you are well.

Your son has been craving the Imperial Kitchen’s crystal ice cakes lately. Could you ask Master Chef Chen to copy down the ingredients and send them over? Bu Ri Gu De can’t find them.

After receiving the letter, the emperor summoned everyone to study it for hidden meaning. But after three days and nights of deliberation, they found nothing. His dear son was simply craving a snack…

Everyone thought a letter sent so far away must be the prince’s last words, and they wiped away their tears.

Then, on the emperor’s birthday, the Wolf King brought his army to court to offer congratulations.

As the welcoming envoys waited outside, they suddenly heard a commotion from inside the tent. A gust of wind lifted the tent flaps.

The Wolf King, broad-shouldered as a mountain and reputed to have slaughtered countless people, was crouching on a wooden board, putting shoes on their useless prince. They even heard the prince complain.

“I told you not to mess with my feet. Now I can’t get my shoes on!”

“I’m not wearing them! Just carry me down.”

In the second month after Qi Sun took power, the declining Great Zhou sent him a beauty, said to be stunning and clever.

Qi Sun had no interest in the gift. In fact, he was deeply displeased by Great Zhou’s decision.

On their wedding night, he entered the tent with a cold expression and a knife in hand, intending to test the beauty’s courage.

But when he lifted the red veil,

he found a man!

The man was beautiful, his brilliant red coloring lovelier than a georgine flower.

Beneath the veil, the man had fallen asleep sitting up. At the sound of movement, he drowsily buried his face in the blankets and mumbled, “Why hasn’t the lamp been put out yet? Has Qi Sun still not come?”

His voice sounded like a cat in heat.

Qi Sun stared at the man’s rosy face, his eyes darkening.

Forget it. He would spare him for now and deal with him after winter.
