The Little Diner Next to the Police Station [Gourmet]

Song Shuangyi, a restaurant mogul, dies suddenly from overwork and accidentally transmigrates into an old-fashioned novel as a minor character who shares her name. The minor character is an orphan. Her adoptive parents died in a car accident, and their savings were completely drained by the cost of emergency care. She also has a tiny little sister, fostered by relatives who barely feed or clothe her. She’s a complete little waif. Song Shuangyi is dumbfounded. What a catastrophic start. With her family on the verge of having nothing to eat, she has no choice but to return to her old line of work. But while she’s going to make money, she swears she won’t work herself to the bone like she did in her previous life. Before long, everyone knows there’s a fantastic little restaurant near the police station on Yinghu Street. The cases that come into the station every day start getting absurd too. Someone reports being followed. The suspects are a man and a dog, but it turns out the dog followed him all the way home because the dinner he was carrying smelled so good. Someone’s takeout, which they fought tooth and nail to get, goes missing. Heartbroken, they beg the police to make sure the culprit is brought to justice! Later, the security footage reveals that the culprit was a cat. Even more ridiculous, one day they discover a major suspect in a big case. After they arrest him, he struggles and says, “W-wait! I know you’ve caught me and I can’t get away, but I have one tiny request.” The officers watch him impassively, wondering what trick he’s going to try. The suspect asks, “Can I finish eating this pig’s trotter? It took me ages to get my hands on it.” “...” * A slice-of-life story. The male lead is a background character and doesn’t appear until later. Theme: Live well
