Tian Xingjian was born in the Thirteenth Star System, a place of ill omen.
The path upward has opened. Only those who survive this trial of life and death will have even the slightest hope of escaping their suffering and moving to a more prosperous star system.
She looked back and saw the hollow, unseeing eyes of countless people who had died unjustly.
She looked ahead and saw scattered fires of rebellion beginning to burn.
The road beneath her feet was paved with piles of bones. She walked forward and never looked back.
