[Western Crossover] Bird in a Cage

/Set against the backdrop of Arkham Knight

Sever wandered through the Backrooms for over a year. When he finally got out, he headed straight for Arkham.

While the Joker and the other villains were throwing Jason a six-month welcome party, the cell wall was smashed in.

"Hey, I'm here for revenge."

The boy who appeared out of nowhere greeted them warmly.

He paid special attention to the Joker and Scarecrow.

Sever stepped over the pool of blood and stopped in front of Jason.

"Arkham Knight, Jason Todd. I've come to kill..."

He suddenly faltered.

Their soul marks were burning... How could this be? His enemy was his soulmate?

He changed tack. "I've come to save you."

*

Sever took Jason home.

He treated his injuries and helped him recuperate.

But this was only Sever's way of getting revenge.

At every moment, twisted malice churned inside him.

He thought that having a soulmate was a pretty good excuse.

Once Jason depended on him, trusted him, and fell in love with him...

He would plunge him into even greater suffering.

But Sever didn't know that during those days, under the effects of fear toxin and hallucinogens, Jason had awakened the ability to read minds.

*

Jason didn't expose him while he was recovering.

He pretended to go along with it.

He waited for Sever to show his true colors.

But Sever seemed incredibly patient.

Jason kept waiting until Sever took him to his sister's house to celebrate Christmas together.

Until Sever kissed him without thinking and told him, "I love you."

Until they exchanged wedding rings in a church.

Jason: ...?

Was something wrong here?

Only then did he notice that, at some point, Sever's inner thoughts had turned sickeningly sweet.

"His eyes are so beautiful."

"He's so cute."

"Why is my partner so charming?"

Jason: ...Is he actually serious?

Jason stared silently at the 1,234 assassination plans in his hands.
