[Western Crossover] The Impostor Claims Credit

/Laughing in the background

Jason wakes up to find himself back in the past, before the old Bat went mad.

He tries to stop it all from happening.

He fails.

Again and again.

Later, he realizes that the less he has to do with them, the better their chances of survival.

The twelve-year-old street kid stands far away on a street corner, watching the Batmobile drive off.

This time, they are strangers who have never met.

A silver-haired man walks out of the movie theater with his children, all laughing. Damian smacks Dick's hand away when he ruffles his hair.

They pass a young man going the other way.

"What's wrong?"

Tim asks Bruce.

Bruce turns back. He had only glimpsed a stranger, and he doesn't understand why something about him stirred a feeling in his heart.

"...It's nothing. Let's go home."

Their footsteps gradually fade away.

Jason sits alone in the movie theater, watching the film in silence.

Someone sits beside him and offers him a bucket of popcorn.

"What's wrong? You look unhappy."

"Nothing."

He crunches a piece of popcorn, his words muffled.

The movie ends.

"Let's go home, little brother."

Snowflakes swirl outside. The other person wraps a scarf around him and sighs.

"I really don't understand why you had to watch the movie again."

Jason silently lets him fuss over him, his eyes lowered to the man's fingers.

All lies are eventually exposed.

Jason isn't his little brother at all.

He claimed a false identity and carefully planned their chance encounters. It was all part of a scheme.

A scheme to kill him.
