Spirits of the Mountains and Seas

Since ancient times, legends of the mythical creatures from the Classic of Mountains and Seas have circulated in the human world, but few people know that they're real.

After graduating from college, Yu Buzhou joined a detective agency. Every day, he received strange assignments and got startled by all kinds of nonhuman beings:

A prankster clown at an amusement park with no facial features;

A groom in a small village whose entire body was covered in snakeskin;

Monkeys in a park randomly grabbing people and making them play transmigrate games...

Yu Buzhou: “Help! Why is this world so weird?!”

Unable to handle it, he packed up and tried to run away, only to be stopped by his bad-tempered boss, who blocked his path with a knife.

The boss gave him a sinister smile. “You've already signed the contract. Where do you think you're going?”

Later, Yu Buzhou discovered that not only were his coworkers nonhuman, but he wasn't human either.

Tang Wujian is the owner of the detective agency and the guardian spirit of Wuyou Town. He is responsible for capturing troublesome mythical creatures and giving shelter to those without a home.

He never expected that, through a moment's carelessness, he'd hire an assistant even lazier than himself.

He has to cook for the assistant during the day and keep an eye on him at night so he doesn't wander off.

Tang Wujian: “Don't go out after midnight.”

Yu Buzhou does it anyway.

Tang Wujian: “Don't talk to strangers.”

Yu Buzhou talks to them anyway.

Tang Wujian realized that his assistant was not only lazy, greedy, and useless, but also none too bright.

But the contract was signed, so he couldn't return him.

Tang Wujian thought he was really unlucky. He really did.

Later, Wuyou Town became an internet-famous tourist spot. The pigs here could farm, the birds could breathe fire, and the horses delivered takeout.

The mythical creatures acted like adorable pets by day and ran wild by night.

Beauty influencer Nine-Tailed Fox: “Close your eyes. Your auntie's going to give you eyeshadow that'll make men fall for you!”

Tang Wujian brandished his knife. “Why don't I give you double eyelids that'll make men fall for you?”

Rambunctious Xingxing: “I want to sleep on a Simmons mattress!”

Tang Wujian sneered. “Want me to kill you right now?”

Psychologist Ershu: “Having a bad temper is an illness. You need treatment!”

Tang Wujian simply tore off her employee badge.

The mythical creatures were so intimidated that they all hid behind Yu Buzhou, the only person who could keep Tang Wujian in line. “Luanniao, do something about your man!”
